WP7 focuses on the future of the PIONEER Alliance. As delegates in this key work package, we engage in discussions on topics such as open science and the Orchestration Team — the group designed to lead strategic dialogues on shared projects, and cooperation among the alliance.
To build our team and to start the discussions, we had a great meeting in Breda on the 1st and the 2nd of October. On the attached pictures, you can see how we engaged in productive discussions and also took the time to get to know each other more personal. The discussions were lively and we had lots of fun together.
So far, WP7 has concentrated on two main priorities:
- Exploring the potential legal status of the alliance.
WP7 delegates have produced a document outlining the main arguments for and against establishing a legal entity in the future. This document, which will be discussed with the Steering Committee and the Governing Board, will provide a cost–benefit analysis to support the decision on whether or not the alliance should move toward a formal legal structure. - Developing the first policy brief of the alliance.
In close collaboration with WP5, WP7 is drafting the first in a series of policy briefs that will eventually form a comprehensive PIONEER Strategy Document by the end of the project. This initial brief connects the alliance’s commitment to SDG 11 with strategic policy documents produced by the European Commission and the more recent reports used to frame the next European Framework Programme (FP10).
Together, these actions aim to strengthen the alliance’s long-term vision and policy alignment within the evolving European Research Area.
And yes — we know what you’re thinking: we’ve just started PIONEER, and the WP7 team is already thinking about its future! Let’s just say we like to stay one step ahead… maybe even a year in advance. Important is that we have to do this all together. And the WP7 team will take up the challenge to support the discussions and the process.
