ISTAR-ISCTE research centre organised the ADD_In, a Summer School on advanced analysis for urban planning strategies and sustainable cultural heritage management, from 4th to 15th September 2023, coordinated by Dr. Stefania Stellacci, researcher at ISTAR-ISCTE. This year 14 students from Brazil, Germany, Romenia, Palestine, Mexico, Italy, Algeria came to Lisbon to learn about new technologies and work at the Lisbon’s Rossio Square as the main case-study.

ADD_In presents an overview of future trends and research that include Artificial Intelligence and computational systems through an inclusive, innovative, and interdisciplinary perspective. For such purpose, a wide range of invited speakers contributed to give an overview of themes related to urbanism, IT, data science or space syntax such as:

  • Sam Griffiths(Associate Professor, The Bartlett School of Architecture Faculty of the Built Environment)
  • Ilaria Geddes (Research Fellow, Department of Architecture at University of Cyprus)
  • Mohammed Bazine Boubezari(Professor, Lusófona University, Lisbon)
  • Fernando Batista(Associate Professor, ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon)
  • Sara Eloy (Assistant Professor, ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon)
  • Sérgio Moro (Associate Professor, ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon)
  • Rosália Guerreiro (Assistant Professor, ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon)

Different techniques were analysed to define project scenarios at urban and territorial scale, based on the critical understanding of spatial and semantic indicators related to the urban form and its social relations.

The subject of the ADD_In Summer School contributes the focus of the InCITIES project on inclusive, sustainable and resilient cities.
