ISCTE and DINÂMIA’CET-ISCTE research centre were honoured to host the 11th International Conference of the Portuguese-Language Network of Urban Morphology (PNUM 2023). The PNUM 2023 conference was held in Sintra/Portugal, in person and remotely, and entitled “Urban Morphology: Planning, Recovery and Resilience“. The event took place at the ISCTE Sintra facilities, the Olga Cadaval Cultural Center and the Sintra Municipal Library. During the two days of the conference were presented nearly 100 works and keynotes, focusing the debate on urban form on three particular dimensions: resilience, climate transition and digital transition, proposing 6 specific thematic lines dedicated to the analysis, research and practice of urban form, namely: Urban form and green transition; Urban form and digital transformation; Urban form and sustainable and inclusive growth; Urban form and social and territorial cohesion; Urban form, health and economic resilience and Urban form and policies for the next generations.

These specific thematic lines of the conference are aligned with the ones addressed within InCITIES, namely on Questioning urban transition, Digital transition and Sustainable and resilient cities, which shows the relevance and the opportunity of the initiative.

PNUM was founded in 2010 as part of the International Seminar on Urban Form (ISUF), an international network dedicated to the study of the urban form. PNUM brings together a number of researchers, academics and professionals from several fields of knowledge, including architecture, urbanism, history, urban planning, sociology and urban geography, anthropology, among others, who are dedicated to studying the physical form of cities, their main processes and the stakeholders that contribute to it.
