Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)_ Cities Futures – Interdisciplinary Challenges_on-site course

Under the scope of the project InCITIES, ISCTE is organizing a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)/school pilot entitled Cities Futures – Interdisciplinary Challenges, that will run from the end of October 2024 to January 2025.
Please find below the details of this BIP/school pilot:
What:
- Cities Futures – Interdisciplinary Challenges, within the wider topic of Inclusive, Sustainable and Resilient Cities.
- Based on the principles of the Learning by Developing (LbD) pedagogical model, the BIP/school pilot includes modules, but not only, on:
- Futurism – cities foresight
- Information, Data Visualization and Accessibility for User Decision Making
- Design thinking for envisioning cities futures focused on the LbD challenges
- Transport innovation – Sustainable Urban Development
- Human centred Artificial Intelligence
- Sensing mobility data
- Intermediate presentations of the challenges proposed by the associated partners
- Hackathon Future Cities From Vivid Reality: Inclusive and Sustainable and Challenges in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area
Where:
- Hybrid format with the duration of 12 weeks: 9 online modules (2h each), followed by 1 week on-site (20h) .
When:
- The ISCTE winter school pilot happens in the 1st semester of 2024-2025 academic year and is scheduled for end of October 2024 to January 2025.
- The on-site course in Lisbon will be held on week of 20th to 24th of January 2025.
To Whom:
- All educational levels – Target of at least 15 bachelor, master and/or PhD students, including some from partnering institutions (with Erasmus+ BIP travel and accommodation funding).
- The maximum number of students is 30.
- 6 ECTS, i.e. the equivalent of 150 working hours, including reading, attending online and on-site course, related visits, and preparing contributions

- UNIZA – content provider
How:
- ISCTE school pilot focuses on Interdisciplinary Challenges related to Cities Futures towards developing consciousness and agency for building Cities Futures.
- Concrete and authentic real-life challenges proposed by the InCITIES Associated Partners: Comboios de Portugal, Wegenblocks, and Inovar Autismo, through putting in practice the LbD pedagogical model.
- Participants will present the results in the final in-presence session of the Hackathon Future Cities From Vivid Reality: Inclusive and Sustainable and Challenges in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.
